Connie Rader – Adding to Life’s Journey

In August of 2013, Connie Rader found herself contemplating a change. Her three children had all grown and “flown the nest,” and she wondered what she should do next. “I was a stay-at-home mom, and I found myself in a mid-life crisis. I thought, ‘what am I going to do now with the rest of my life?’”

At 51, Connie didn’t really want to go back to school, nor did she want to work a traditional 9-to-5 job. “I was looking for something fulfilling, flexible, and enjoyable—and a job that would allow me to take time off to visit my kids.” In her search for the perfect fit, she happened upon an opportunity that meshed beautifully with the family life she dreamed of creating.

Starting her regimen for change

Connie had reached out to her friend Melanie Flowers to learn more about real estate, when she was incidentally introduced to Melanie’s new Rodan + Fields® business. “I hauled home all the real estate books that Melanie gave me, but I kept rolling Rodan + Fields around in my mind. I left our conversation thinking I wasn’t interested in the business side, but I was really curious about trying these products.”

As someone who “struggled with skin issues basically my whole life,” Connie was excited to try something new. “I can’t tell you how many products I’ve tried. It was a no-brainer for me to buy an RFX Express Business Kit, because there were a lot of products in there that I wanted to use.”

Connie quickly saw results. “I started using the UNBLEMISH Regimen and around five weeks in, I noticed the appearance of my skin changing in a way that had never happened before. I absolutely loved it. This was the first product I’ve ever used that not only cleared my skin but also left it feeling healthy afterward!” She shared the products with her mother and a neighbor, and was excited about their results as well. “Within two months, I really believed in the R+F products. I saw that they really worked!”

Reaching a turning point

However, Connie still had “a big hang up” about sharing the products that was holding her back. “After hitting Executive Consultant and earning enough to pay for my products, I didn’t really do much for the first year. I didn’t catch the vision yet of what this opportunity could be.” Despite her reservations, Connie started listening to training calls with her Upline leaders on a weekly basis. Hearing the testimonials from their team began to inspire her.

The truth for Connie was that “I didn’t have belief in it all until I went to Convention in Atlanta, October of 2014. That was the turning point in my business. I was completely blown away by hearing directly from the Doctors, and the lights finally went on in my head. I walked away from Convention really wanting to share the business with others for the first time!”

Coming home from Atlanta, Connie saw that “with belief comes confidence. I was able to confidently share Rodan + Fields with people in my life because I had a greater vision of what I wanted to do with my business.” Now, as a Premier V, working 15 hours per week, Connie thinks back to that first Convention as a beginning entrepreneur. “I remember thinking, ‘I wonder if I will ever get to wear a Level V nametag…’ It was a personal goal of mine to reach this Level, and here I am!”

Setting new life goals

The next step for Connie is to continue supporting her team. “That’s the part that I find the most fulfilling: seeing others succeed and meet their goals.” As Team Fire grew and expanded over time, Connie developed a unique approach to bring everyone together again. “It’s not just my team now—we’ve become more like a group of teams. We call ourselves The Power Up Group and we are all leaders of our bigger team!”

Other goals developed in the wake of Connie’s turning point. “My first big personal goal was to help my husband, Bill, retire early from the fire department. We met that goal a year ago, which opened up a whole new world of options for what we can do with our time!” Connie is also passionate about bringing her family together even though her children are spread over the western half of the country. “Having quality time with my family is a big part of my why. I want to continue to grow so that I have the financial freedom to visit my grandchildren and be part of their lives.”

Connie is grateful for the path that brought her into a fulfilling and rewarding career. “I’ve always been a driven person and I’m passionate about the personal growth that we each go through in this business. The Rodan + Fields journey has now become part of my life journey!”

 

Tell Me More…

What one word do you most relate to? “Betterment.” I don’t ever want to stop “getting better,” regardless of age.

What is your favorite R+F product? REDEFINE Lip Renewing Serum!

Best meal you’ve ever had? Now that my kids are all grown and have flown my nest, any meal where my family is all back together is the “best meal.”

Especially significant people in your R+F journey? My husband, Bill. He has always supported and encouraged me.

What is your best R+F experience? Attending my first Convention in Atlanta. It was that Convention that really solidified my belief in this company and the opportunity – I came home “changed.”

  1. I loved reading your story! It reminds me of ME! I started this business 3 months ago. I’ll be 50 in Dec. My daughter (only child) will be off to college in a few years. I’had been thinking same things…what will I do? Go back to bring a trained monkey?! Then, this opportunity came along! I’m really excited to grow my business & this team! Thank you for inspiring!

    Your story speaks to me. I began my R&F journey just 5 months ago at 59. I needed something to fill my need to contribute something toward our retirement years. After teaching 14 years, I had been a supportive military spouse and SAHM. Loved my life but with the boys grown, I needed something. My husband retired from a 27 yr military career and we moved to a new area where he began an “encore” career job. After 3 years, the job was more stressful than either of us wanted and he resigned that job and started a less stressful job. I would love for him to retire for good. Thanks for your story – gives me the inspiration to strive to achieve this goal!
