Dani Wilder – Building Her Own Beloved Life

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017

Dani Wilder started adulthood feeling a bit lost and confused. Her lifelong dream of becoming a professional dancer had been derailed by a car accident and resulting hip injury at age 18, and she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life.

“I took a job working for one of Canada’s big five banks. It was great at first, but I started to realize that my level of success was entirely controlled by someone else. When I moved cities and started working in a new market, my mental health started wavering. I knew I wanted to do something different, but I didn’t think I had any special skills other than dancing.”

Learning about a new opportunity

Dani was introduced to the Rodan + Fields® business by her parents (Dan and Debbie Wilder) in February of 2014, a year before the Company officially launched in their home of British Columbia. This turned out to be the chance Dani had been looking for. “We were introduced to the Company by our good friend Lesley Langfield, and we all eventually made the decision to hop on board.”

Dani explains, “I jumped in for two reasons. First, I’ve known Lesley my entire life, and she’s always been our go-to source for skincare. Her preference for R+F products really made me take notice. Also, my dad wholeheartedly believed in the business model. He’s a very skeptical person by nature, but he thought we’d be crazy to pass this up. I’m so fortunate that my parents recognized this opportunity for the gift that it was, and that they shared it with me.”

Waiting to launch

That first year, Dani and her family anxiously waited for Rodan + Fields to launch in Canada. “It was a real test to our belief. We didn’t even have products yet, but we still shared as much as we could.” Dani says that Laurie and Gary Dittrich hosted corporate events in BC to help them make sense of the opportunity, and Kris and Mark Fairless, another power couple, helped out from the beginning.

“It was definitely a trying time, but persevering allowed us to have an even stronger faith in the Company by the time we launched. All of us Consultants were coming out of the gate together, and that may have made it a little harder to get up and running. However, I’m grateful because it forced me to take initiative and to level up on my own.”

Moving forward into success

When Dani officially started her life as an Independent Consultant, things began to change. “I made the decision to leave my job at the bank in May of 2016 and put that toxic environment behind me. I connected with a life coach and discovered that I was holding myself back. Altering my mindset changed everything for me! I got really serious about working my R+F business.”

Dani’s business continues to grow and gain momentum. She devotes 2-3 hours per day to R+F, and is focused on achieving her next goal. “I’m super proud of how far I’ve come! Right now I’m running for Level V and Lexus—I have a picture of it hanging in my office that I look at every single day for motivation!”

Becoming her best self

Dani explains that her self-esteem has really improved since becoming an entrepreneur. “Growing up I never felt good enough. But when I started Rodan + Fields, I found exactly where I’m supposed to be in my life. I go to bed every night knowing that I’m making the world a better place, and it changed the way I look at myself.”

Dani is passionate about helping others on Team Hustle Queens explore their “big, crazy, wild dreams.” That’s a big part of her ‘why.’ “I’ve seen what this opportunity has done for my self-esteem and my life, and I really do believe that I have a gift to share. Everyone deserves a chance to live a life like this, and I’m really passionate about getting this opportunity in the hands of others.”

Her connection with Rodan + Fields has encouraged Dani to become her “best self” and explore other passions she didn’t even realize that she had. “At an R+F convention in Austin, I decided to create a global online community for women. Now one of my long-term goals is to create safe houses to assist young girls in the group, and I plan to devote a big portion of my Rodan + Fields income to that cause. Things like this have blossomed because of my experience with R+F, and it’s so rewarding to give back.”
