Danielle Cohen – Learning How to Have It All

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

From working actor to devoted caregiver and successful entrepreneur, Danielle Cohen has had quite the eventful life. “My acting career paid my way through college, and I really wanted to pursue acting as an adult—but I also really wanted to become a mom. When I met my husband and moved to Pennsylvania, I decided to leave the acting world behind. I was so excited to raise a family and didn’t want to miss any of that precious time.”

When her kids were in preschool, her childhood friend Amanda Hall reached out to see if Danielle would be interested in a new opportunity. Danielle’s drive to succeed fueled her curiosity. “After hearing more about Rodan + Fields®, I realized that this was definitely something I could do. Sharing these products and making a little bit of ‘me’ money seemed like the perfect fit at this stage in my life.” Danielle started her journey as an Independent Consultant in February of 2013, and surprised herself by building “quite a business!”

A surprising turn

A couple of years later, Danielle and her family experienced another huge change, and her “why” completely shifted. “My son Ryder was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at age 7. It was the scariest time in my life… but at the same time, good things were happening with my business, and I knew that I didn’t have to worry about anything while I was in the hospital with him. That was such a comfort; I didn’t leave his side for a second. I really felt the support from my team, and I was so grateful to have R+F earnings that I could put toward my son’s medical expenses.”

Health insurance and medications are still lingering issues for Danielle’s family, but she’s confident that her business will be a great help. “Knowing that I can help support my son’s health is amazing. It makes me feel empowered. That’s why I’m doing this business—to be able to help out in tough times like these. This is such a financial safety net for our family. My life has completely changed since Ryder got sick, and I love that I can squeeze in my business whenever I can, from wherever we are.”

Developing goals for the future

Through every step of the journey, from enduring hardships to setting new and exciting goals, Danielle is grateful for her husband Shawn’s support. “His presence has been crucial to my success with Rodan + Fields! I really appreciate his input as a businessman, and I am so thankful that he’s getting involved more and more.” Danielle hopes to one day enlist his help more officially with R+F, saying: “We’re partners in life, why not business?”

No matter what happens, Danielle is dedicated to moving forward with the Company. “In the near future I am running for the Road to RFProgram, and I’m so excited for the team growth that comes along with it. I’ve had this goal clearly in front of me ever since I left the hospital with Ryder after his diagnosis, and it’s driving me to challenge myself.”

Her experiences have also inspired her to give back in a big way. “After the diagnosis, we participated in a walk organized by the hospital. With the help of family and R+F teammates, team Ryder for a Cure raised thousands of dollars for Crohn’s disease research. It was such a fulfilling experience that Shawn and I want to start our own charity one day—I love to give back and will continue to give especially to the hospital that made such a difference for our family.”

Enjoying her community

Danielle is ever thankful for the members of Team Wrinkle Warriors—a name inspired by the REDEFINE ACUTE CARE ® product, one of her many personal favorites. Her team name and its members inspire Danielle to continue to enjoy the journey. “I like the fun and lighthearted aspect of the team name, because I always promised myself I would make this business fun!”

Together, these Independent Consultants have formed a community that surrounds Danielle with support. “We’ve all got each  other’s back. I’ve made new friends and reconnected with old friends, and it’s always so fun to meet each other in person after communicating online every day.”

Driven by passion

More than anything, Danielle loves to see her team members reach their goals. “It’s exciting to see that kind of magic happening for someone else. This business has given me the powerful feeling that I’m able to do things I never even dreamed I would be able to.”

As an actor, Danielle always wished to have a career and a family at the same time, but felt that it wasn’t possible. “I’m really thankful that this business exists and that I stumbled upon it four years ago. This business allows me to be comfortable in my own skin, sharing something that I truly love. We’re building something real here, and a mom really can have it all!”
