Erica Wallis – You’re Never Too Busy

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

As a physical therapist, Erica Wallis ran herself ragged taking up extra shifts each week. “I truly love my profession, but I just needed more balance in my life. I was working six days a week every week. I just felt like a crazy person! I felt guilty when I was working because someone else was raising my kids. I felt guilty when I was with my kids because I should have been working to help pay the bills. My husband, Kyle, and I were pinching every penny and I was just not in a good place.”

Erica’s situation took a pleasantly unexpected turn when her best friend shared that she had become an Independent Consultant for Rodan + Fields, and invited Erica to join her in business. “I hadn’t heard anything about it, so I initially said no. There was no way I had time to fit something else in!” Though she initially turned down the opportunity, Erica just couldn’t get the idea out of her mind. She looked for a sign that R+F was the right choice, and it came when her three-year-old son asked about lines on her forehead. “I was shocked to admit that I had wrinkles—I knew this was my sign. It could not be clearer that this opportunity was just waiting to provide some answers.” Erica called her friend in June 2016 and started her own Rodan + Fields business.

A happy surprise

Initially, of course, Erica was excited about getting incredible products at a great discount. She worked through some initial nerves on the business side of things, and found comfort in the experience of her Upline. “I thought I had gotten in way over my head, but I vowed to be coachable and follow the steps Ashley gave me. I followed the system and started talking to people. About a month in, once I started really loving the products and loving the business, I wanted to help more people see how R+F has the potential to change their lives for the better.” Armed with her straight-shooter personality, Erica continued to share the facts about Rodan + Fields and her personal experience with those around her.

Her belief grew side by side with her team over her first few months in business. “As a whole I was really starting to believe in my business by the end of December, so I resolved to hit Level V before my third child was born. Working at least 15 hours per week, I achieved that goal the month before my daughter arrived in June 2017, and it was such a relief. Finally hitting that big goal made me very happy, because for a long time I didn’t think I would be able to get there!”

Spreading belief

Erica believes the support both from home and her R+F community made the biggest difference in her success. “My husband is always very supportive—he was even on board with Rodan + Fields before I was. I’m so fortunate to have the family and the team that I do. Their encouragement leads me in the right direction. My Upline is incredibly helpful, and my team is a big family of people who are great at cheering each other on.”

The next goal on the horizon for Team 3G (Grit, Grind, and Grow) is Level V Circle, and she’s determined to get there by empowering and inspiring her team members more than ever before. “I’m in this for the long haul. I want to go straight to RFX Circle, but right now I’m trying to build more confidence in my team. I love helping each individual believe in themselves and know that if I can do this they can do this! I’m passionate about helping others develop perseverance and belief in themselves, and I love watching how this business helps each of us grow as a person and as a leader.”

Growing relief

Level V is satisfying, but there’s an even more important goal Erica has reached: cutting back on her full-time work to spend more time at home. “Thanks to my R+F business, now I work part time as a physical therapist—because I want to; not because I have to. I’m home with my babies so much more and love being a mom. I’ve finally achieved a good balance in my life, and that’s the single biggest thing my business has done for me.” With relief from pressing monetary stress, Erica and Kyle no longer feel like they are living paycheck to paycheck.

“The earnings from my Rodan + Fields business have helped us make more choices that we may not have been able to make before. Many people feel they’re too busy to even consider this opportunity or that there’s no way this could be the right choice for them… but I hope everyone can listen to the facts and really strongly consider R+F. I was exhausted and stretched way too thin when I started my business, and I want people to realize this can work for anybody, even if you think you are too busy. I truly believe that this can change lives for the better.”
