Hannah Fisher – Living Every Moment

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Monday, December 23rd, 2013

Most of us go through our daily lives assuming that each day will be very similar to the one before. It’s easy to get caught up in the routine of what we expect, without stopping to appreciate how fragile life really is. Hannah Fisher recently learned how important it is to never take anything in life for granted. Tragically, when she was nine months into her pregnancy and expecting the joy of a third baby, she instead found herself planning a funeral. Last August her child was still-born, and she began the long recovery process that followed her immense grief. A mother of two other young boys, she feels thankful that she was able to be home with them, and says that her family is what kept her going after the loss. “When you experience a tragedy, you can either make the choice to quit or keep going, and I chose to keep going.”

Hannah’s perspective on life changed greatly after her experience, and she made the best of a hard situation by making sure something positive came from it. As a Rodan + Fields® Independent Consultant she focuses her business efforts on helping people have the time to be with their children and with their families as much as possible, because she knows how precious time is, and how circumstances can change at any moment. Hannah realized the magnitude of her business through her tragic loss, and the residual income she created over sixteen months has allowed her to be in bed snuggling with her kids as often as she wants. “I am still recovering from my loss, and my business is a huge part of my healing process, because it lets me help others. It gives me something that I can control at a time when my world feels so out of control.”

Because her husband travels frequently for work, it has been of particular importance that she commit to being a stay-at-home mom, which is something she always wanted for herself. Her own parents worked long hours, and she decided early on that she would be the mom who was there for every moment, everyday of her children’s lives. “I know a lot of women think that they have to choose between a career and family, but this is an example of a business opportunity that lets you do both.” Hannah’s sister is also a Rodan + Fields Independent Consultant, and she loves being able to work with her, and says it has brought them even closer. “My sister is my best friend, and it’s so great to be able to work with her in this, because family is my top priority.”

When Hannah first joined Rodan + Fields, it was because she liked the idea of having something that she could do on her own, outside of being a wife and mother. She studied art education, and ran a cultural arts department where she taught art to children of all ages before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. She considered teaching full-ttime, but didn’t like the idea of leaving her sons with a babysitter. In the end she decided that being home was the best option, but she still wanted to find something that could give her a creative outlet. “I wanted to stay at home full-time, but of course that also meant giving up a piece of myself, too. My Rodan + Fields business gives me balance.”

Over time, her reason for continuing the business grew beyond just wanting to have something to pursue personally. She would like to see her husband be able to enjoy the life he has worked so hard to provide their family, and the income she is bringing in from her business will play a role in that goal. Even more, she would like to see her business help people make the most of their own family time. There aren’t very many opportunities to have the type of career where you can make a business call while walking on the beach with your family, and that is what makes the Rodan + Fields business opportunity so unique, and so appealing to a lot of people. Hannah enjoys watching her team members be able to spend their time the way they want, because time is the most precious commodity we have.

“Before losing the baby I was a different person, and that experience has taught me how precious life really is, and how precious time is. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and I consider myself successful if I am able to fully enjoy every moment. I believe everyone deserves that, and I am thankful that I can be a part of helping people achieve it. My advice is simple: have a positive outlook, and live every moment to the fullest.”

    Hannah-
I am so sorry for your loss. I too experienced a stillborn, but with my first baby. His name was Peyton Taylor Crow. It was 15 years ago. I am happy to say that God has blessed me with 2 more children who are healthy, beautiful, smart, sweet and the joy of my life. Cade is 14 and Carson Ann is 13 and they keep me motivated to carry on. I am glad to see that you have been able to work Rodan and Fields around your family. I am thankful that I can do that as well. This company has so many benefits and I am truly thankful that I decided to come on board last May. Just know that you are an inspiration to me and to others, and I was very happy to read your story and to see how well you are doing. Nothing will ever take the place of our babies, but I take comfort in knowing that Peyton is in Heaven. Kudos to you. Keep up the great work with this fabulous company. God bless you…
