Jenn DiVittorio – The Persistence to Make It Happen

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

Four years ago, on the Monday after Thanksgiving, Jenn DiVittorio was laid off from her pharmaceutical sales job of ten years. Suddenly unemployed, Jenn happened to see Rodan + Fields® featured on The Today Show while at home one day. The segment piqued her interest, as an acquaintance of hers had recently become an Independent Consultant.

Jenn began researching the Company immediately. She discovered the stories of many women who had found success with their R+F businesses—some of whom shared her pharmaceutical background. “It made sense to me; we had experience in launching a product or brand, selling clinically-proven products, and maintaining a network. I had no experience with direct selling, but I felt it was a unique opportunity that I wanted to be a part of.”

Jenn’s business has given her a new sense of confidence and, for the first time, she is excited about her career and her professional goals.

Jenn was interested in the financial aspect of the business, but the prospect of working from home and getting to be her own boss clinched her decision. “I wanted to have something extra for myself. I like to keep myself fulfilled, and it also prevents me from hovering over my son,” she laughs.

In February of 2011, Jenn enrolled as an Independent Consultant and began building her business. About six months in, while attending the R+F Convention in San Francisco, Jenn realized her business had the potential to grow into something amazing. “It was truly empowering to see a Company run by women and eye-opening to meet all of these people who had built successful businesses. I had never seen that in my corporate career.”

Jenn devoted 25 hours per week to her business and, by staying consistent and persistent, she started to see a turning point. Her earnings began to increase each month. Just short of two years in, Jenn achieved Level V status, earned a Lexus, and the income from her new business had fully replaced her pharmaceutical salary. “I always believed in myself and the opportunity, but I thought it would take a lot longer to see such success. It was so rewarding to see that the work I put in was paying off. I knew I was on track to get where I wanted to be.”

Jenn was impressed by the ongoing opportunities her new business offered her. “Coming from a corporate job, this was incredible to me. Normally, you work for a set salary that’s occasionally supplemented by a small commission or a bonus.”

Prior to R+F, Jenn had no management experience. By building her business and working with her team, Jenn developed key leadership skills and a new sense of confidence. “For the first time, I’m excited about my career and have professional goals. It can be challenging, but it’s always worth it. I also never expected it to be so fun. There is a level of enthusiasm that I never felt in pharmaceutical sales.”

For Jenn, watching her teammates experience success and seeing their lives change has been pivotal. “Many of us chose this path for a similar reason or due to a shared vision. So when I see someone else achieve their goal, it’s incredible. I know the tenacity it took to power through and make it happen.”

Jenn’s future looks brighter and very different because of her business. She now sees the possibility of retiring young, while still having the means to help her son financially. Her R+F business also enables her to—for the first time—support charities and causes that she cares about.

By growing her business, Jenn has realized that everyone is self-made, and therefore, anything is possible if you believe in yourself. “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, what your education level is… you just need to get out there and build your business and believe it’s going to happen. It takes consistent effort and a persistent mindset, but it will happen if you make it happen.”
