Jenni Pilcher – Giving Back With R+F

Posted by on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017

The following story recounts how this Independent Consultant is choosing to give back to her community and the world through her Rodan + Fields® business.

For Jenni Pilcher, building her own business was the catalyst for total transformation across all areas of her life. “My friend Holly Brewer introduced me to Rodan + Fields® and we attended a BBL together. I was inspired by the opportunity to work on my own terms, and by the middle of the presentation I texted my husband Glenn and told him I was going to start a business. Five years later, here we are with a huge blessing that I never saw coming.”

“After a year of working 20 hours per week, I had achieved Level V and purchased a home for a family member in need.” After three more years, Glenn was able to leave his job as a senior manager at a biotech company and now works alongside Jenni as her ‘R+F CFO.’ “To say that this business has changed us is the understatement of the year.”

Finding a new way to serve

As mentors to a pair of boys from downtown Raleigh, Jenni and Glenn already knew what true need looked like. “My husband and I were never able to have kids, so when we were led to Hisaun and Jamier about eight years ago, we were eager to help. We took them in and are now able to officially adopt them into our family. They’ve gone from being involved in gang life to wanting to serve communities like the one they grew up in.”

It was this connection to her boys that first inspired Jenni to volunteer with the Prescription For Change® (PFC) Foundation. “The buildOn presentation at Convention made me sit up in my seat. From experience, I knew how powerful an organization like this can be in a young person’s world. As soon as I received the first toolkit, I partnered with fellow Consultant Heather Caldwell to host a coat drive for a local high school. It all took off from there!”

Becoming a Change Maker

Later, Jenni was invited to Chicago to participate in the very first PFC Change Maker trip. “It was such a humbling experience. The kids I met there give and serve more in one week than I think most people do in one year.”

Jenni came home from the trip and was chosen to be a part of the Voices of the Field committee—another experience that shook her world in the best way. “I remember thinking, ‘How in the world am I in a room with some of the most generous people on the planet?’ It is super humbling to help in any way I can with the Prescription For Change Foundation. I love that service is the heart of our Company.”

Jenni and Glenn are still heavily involved with the PFC Foundation today. “We’re headed to Malawi in August on the first international Change Maker trip with buildOn, and we are very excited about helping to build a school there. I’m sure it’s going to be a game changer for us. Glenn has such a gift for service work, and I definitely see us getting more involved in service as time passes.”

Serving back home

Jenni is also active in service back home in her local North Carolina community. “When I hit RFX in 2015, working 25 hours per week, Glenn and I argued about which incentive gift we wanted. But we realized we didn’t really need a chef or a yard service, and we knew kids who could really use the help.  Instead, we chose to use our gift to run a local fundraiser for buildOn. We hosted a casino night and raised more than $25,000! My Direct, Wendy Fullerton, is also hitting RFX, and we plan to continue this event together, annually.”

Jenni inspires Team Beauty From Ashes to get involved in service as well. “Each time a toolkit is released, I encourage my team members to run their own service projects. I know some really great people with great hearts, so it’s really fun to do this together. R+F Go Naked Day is coming up, and we’re getting together to package food for Rise Against Hunger… with no makeup on. We’re also bringing books for a book drive, so it will be a three-in-one night of giving!”

A company of service

This is the aspect of her business that Jenni is most thankful for. “What I love about this Company and the Doctors is that, of course, they can help you address your skin concerns. They can help you build a business with the possibility to bring financial freedom. But at the end of the day, what’s really satisfying is giving back and serving other people. And that, more than anything else, is why I’m here.”
