Jennie Baumberger – Fueling Her Passion

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Thursday, June 7th, 2018

Throughout her life, Jennie Baumberger has been driven by her adventurous personality. Her varied passions have changed her career path for the better and helped her spread positivity in her own unique way. “I’m very much into doing new and different things. I’ve always loved new adventures and ideas. Even as a kid, that’s always been my personality. Today I might wake up and become a painter or I might learn to play the piano. When I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist, I landed on a path of continuous academic achievement. I worked hard to earn my doctorate degree, and that was the fun part! But when faced with doing the same thing day in and day out for the next 40 years, I really wanted to explore other possibilities.”

Meeting Mallory

Jennie met a new friend, Mallory Garschnick, who changed her life forever. “Back in 2014, I had recently moved to Sarasota, and Mallory and I became best friends after meeting at a Junior League event. We had a lot in common, so I was shocked to realize she had so much time freedom. We both had student loans to pay and demanding careers to manage.” A few curious questions later, Jennie heard about Rodan + Fields for the first time. Though she had never before been interested in skincare and had never been in sales, Jennie was really excited about the options this choice might give her.

“I joined Rodan + Fields with the thought that, worst case scenario, I could pay off my student loans a little faster. Funnily enough, everything I made that first year I spent on a trip to Italy with girlfriends instead. But after attending Convention, my goals shifted and I got really serious about my Rodan + Fields business. I was the newbie sitting in the nosebleed section watching the Company recognize the achievements of men and women from all walks of life. It helped me see the bigger picture. I was surprised to see incredible success stories from other Independent Consultants and I soon saw that I was no different. That’s one of the things I love about this business: every single person is on the same playing field.”

Finding bigger motivation

After about a year of working R+F for at least 10 hours per week and continuing to build her business, Jennie’s biggest goal started to take shape. “Rodan + Fields became a much more significant part of my life. I was really excited about this opportunity and I was putting my whole heart into it. I wanted to practice physical therapy on my own time and to have more control over my schedule.” Jennie soon made that change and shifted her main focus to business building.

First and foremost, Jennie is using her excitement to pour into The BAUM Squad, her fun-loving team. “I love being a champion for other people and watching their success. That’s what moves me the most — seeing other people feel proud of themselves. There are people on my team who maybe haven’t had anybody believe in them before. For me, being that person for them is a huge privilege. Getting to know these individuals and their stories has been the most memorable and most meaningful to me over this entire journey. It’s success in a way that’s not monetary. It’s the success of knowing we’ve found the right people to be part of our team and this Company.”

Gratitude for the journey

Aside from her incredible teammates, Jennie is also thankful for those who have supported her business from the beginning, namely, her mother and father. “My mom has always encouraged and supported my need to explore my ideas even if they were a little outlandish. My dad taught me the meaning of hard work. Their combined belief in me gave me the freedom and willingness to take risks. They taught me that failure is nothing more than an opportunity to learn. My mom actually joined my team and has found her own success!

“I’m also grateful for what my R+F business has done in terms of allowing me to have more time to be with my family. We recently dealt with a major illness and knowing I was able to go in person and offer my support because I had that freedom was really powerful for me. I have always loved the fact that the Rodan + Fields business model offers this flexibility. It’s one of my favorite parts of owning my own business and being able to work from anywhere. I don’t have to ask anybody if I can take time off to help my family. Moments like these make me feel so proud to be part of R+F.”

Expanding her impact

Jennie’s sense of gratitude is currently driving her to new, bigger passions. “Now that my Rodan + Fields business is up and running, I’m taking some time to sit and think about my next project. I think Ellen DeGeneres has the best job in the world. Her job is to bring joy and laughter into people’s lives. If I can’t be Ellen just yet, that’s the kind of opportunity I’m looking to create. For now, I know that I will continue to volunteer for organizations that support causes that are important to me.”

Along her R+F journey, Jennie has noticed improvements in her personal and professional development. “Thanks to this business, I am pretty comfortable with public speaking. I also know what it takes to run a successful small business. I have seen improvements in my confidence — I think I even walk a little taller than I used to.”

Future hopes

Looking forward, Jennie is aiming toward Lexus and RFX Circle, but she’s most excited about letting her passions run free through this opportunity. “I think my business will continue to help me pursue all of the many ideas I have for myself and for giving back to others. I’ve always seen R+F as a vehicle for anyone to fuel their passion. You don’t have to be crazy passionate about skincare. I was using soap and water before I started doing this business. But my passion happens to be helping others — watching the transformation, seeing how confidence grows with the use of our products, and watching my team celebrate their success fuels my fire! This is my way to continue to be a champion for other people and to create income to help fund and support the causes that are near and dear to my heart.”
