Jennifer Robinson – Adjusting Her Career Path to Focus on Family

Posted by on Thursday, February 9th, 2017

The twists and turns of life’s meandering path are impossible to predict. All we can do sometimes is sit back, hold on tight, and persevere in the face of whatever we encounter. Every now and then, though, something unexpected comes along that has the power to positively change the course of our lives. The trick is to spot those great opportunities when they arise, and seize them with both hands.

Jennifer Robinson had been a successful realtor for many years, selling homes in the resort communities of St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. But in 2008, the financial crisis shook the country and the bottom fell out of the real estate market. Ever the pragmatist, Jennifer began investigating other ways to make an earning. She hadn’t closed on a property in six months, and the pressure was mounting. She knew it was time to find something else that she could build upon.

Striking out in a new direction

During this time, Jennifer’s best friend from college, Kimberly Dunn, wanted to help in whatever way she could. She had friends who were making a healthy income after starting their own Rodan + Fields® skincare businesses, and conscious of Jennifer’s entrepreneurial spirit, thought the business model might work for her. Jennifer had never heard of Rodan + Fields, but she was eager to try it out, so she bought a business kit. The rest is history.

Jennifer’s story is one of persistence and determination. She has spent more than seven years slowly and steadily building up her business to get it to where it is today. She worked hard and persevered, and wants other Independent Consultants to learn from her success. “If you believe in yourself, Rodan + Fields has the potential to change your future.”

Six months after setting up her business, Jennifer had a daughter, Stiles, who was born with Down syndrome. “Raising a child isn’t easy. All of my children have been challenging at times; with Stiles, the challenges have just been a bit different,” she says. There were times when they attended up to ten therapy sessions a week, and Jennifer says that at these times, her R+F business was invaluable to her family. “I would never have been able to hold down a traditional job while giving her everything that she needed.” And Stiles gave Jennifer a renewed focus: “an extra drive to build my business.”

Cherishing the benefits of financial freedom

These days, Jennifer spends 10-15 hours a week on her business, and leads a team of more than five thousand Consultants. She is now an RFX  Executive Consultant, and earned a Lexus in April of 2013. She hasn’t stopped working as a realtor either, but “now, thanks to my Rodan + Fields business, if the real estate market slows down, I don’t have to worry about how we’ll cover our monthly expenses,” she says with pride.

Since starting her R+F business, Jennifer always dreamed about being successful enough to retire her husband. Last year, that dream came true. “By January of 2016, we had built the business to a point where it was possible for Stan to phase out of his career and focus the majority of his efforts on the home front.”

While Jennifer leads their Rodan + Fields endeavor, Stan is now able to be more present in supporting their growing business and their busy household. The couple have four children, the youngest of whom is still a toddler. Jennifer and Stan are ecstatic that they can be there for their family, whenever they need them. “Now, we work business around our life, instead of the other way around.”
