Julie Waldrop – On The #RFJourney

The following story recounts how this Independent Consultant utilized one of the many Rodan + Fields® Programs designed to motivate and incentivize dedicated Consultants who are working to grow their business.

 

“I was looking for some great skincare because I started seeing sun damage and fine lines around my eyes, and nothing worked for me.” After seeing a Facebook post in July of 2009, Julie Waldrop called her friend Serena Cummins to ask about the Rodan + Fields® REDEFINE™ Regimen.

In the middle of the conversation, Serena paused to ask if Julie was looking for any additional income. The economic downturn had severely impacted Julie’s husband, a general contractor, as well as Julie’s own estate liquidation business, and she was interested in becoming more financially secure.

“I was excited to partner with world-renowned dermatologists—and not only that, they’re beautiful! Looking back eight years later, this business has been a blessing from the very beginning. Thank goodness I hopped on board!”

Beginning from a strong foundation

As her business grew, Julie happily gave more and more time to her newest venture. “I continued running my liquidation business from home for a couple of years, working R+F on the side. But as soon as my Rodan + Fields paycheck was big enough, I quit doing estate liquidations and I don’t ever want to put anything on eBay again in my entire life!”

In the beginning of her journey, she was determined to build a market for her business where one had not previously existed. “I sat by myself for a long time in Louisville, Kentucky as a truly independent Consultant. I created a network from the ground up by meeting people out and about and messaging people every single day. I even founded a women’s networking group in my city because opportunities were lacking to help women-owned businesses thrive.”

Working 20-30 hours per week, Julie was among the first several hundred Independent Consultants to achieve Level V, in October of 2011. However, she remained at that level for a long while. “I worked my business, of course, but I didn’t really do a whole lot. When the first Incentive Programs were released years later, they helped me realize how much I had to grow. They completely changed my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.”

Learning to Lead the Way

Lead the Way was first released in January of 2014, and immediately started a fire in Julie. “I first heard of the program at Summit in Nashville, and I loved that it was so goal driven. I knew from my Level V trip to Napa that the Doctors roll out the red carpet when you earn incentive travel, and I was determined to earn the Level V trip to San Francisco.”

Julie immediately got to work. “I set out a game plan. I sat down with my family and said, ‘I’m going to run for Lead the Way, and you guys might not see me very much. I’m going to run really hard for six months, and I think it’s going to be worth it.’ I decided to reach out to everybody that I knew with skin,” she laughs, “and that’s when the magic started to happen for me.”

Seeing unbelievable results

By July of 2015, Julie had achieved Elite V, earned her Lexus, and reached RFX Circle. However, she still believes wholeheartedly in the goal-driven Incentive Programs. “I am so passionate about Lead the Way! If that program had never come out, I might have remained stuck where I was. It took me six-and-a-half years to reach RFX, but I really attribute my success to Lead the Way. It gave me the little push I needed to be successful and change my family’s life.”

“We were able to buy our dream home, and my husband Danny has more flexibility in his contracting work. We really knew that this business was working when I was able to tell my husband, ‘I’ve got this. I can pay all of our bills.’ I’m able to pick up Jake and Maddie from school every day, and without this business I wouldn’t be able to be the carpool mom that I am. My son tells me that that I’m the happiest person he knows.”

Helping others taste the champagne

Now that Julie has achieved her biggest goals, she sometimes finds herself facing the question, “What now?” She explains with certainty that, “It’s not about me anymore. It’s about my team. I want to see every person on my team earning a Lexus and going to Maui. I still work my business every day, but my main focus now is helping my team members meet their big goals.”
Team Inspire enthusiastically follows their leading mantra, #DreamBig, and Julie is grateful to lead such a “graciously abundant” group of individuals.

Looking back on her journey, Julie appreciates being there for the early days of Rodan + Fields. “The biggest lesson that I’ve learned over the past eight years is to discipline my disappointments. I’ve learned that everybody’s journey is different. But the champagne tastes the same at the end no matter when you get there.”

What one word do you most relate to? Faith. My faith in this business, our corporate team, the Doctors and my team has gotten me this far!

Where do you draw your inspiration from in life? I love inspirational quotes! My favorites are from Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Simon Sinek, Oprah, and Randy Pausch.

Favorite snack? Does wine count as a snack?

Which R+F Program have you achieved, and what are you running for next? I have achieved Milestone 5 of every Lead the Way Program since 2014! I’m now running for LTW 7.0.

What is your favorite R+F memory? Picking up my Lexus. After six years of hard work, it was a huge accomplishment.
