Lore Cardella – Redefining Business Ownership

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Wednesday, January 28th, 2015

Raised in an entrepreneurial family, Lore Cardella always dreamed of growing up and owning her own business. After college, Lore worked in the pharmaceutical and biotech sales industry for ten years before leaving to stay at home with her children. “As a kid, I watched my dad make sacrifices and knew how much time and effort he put into his business. Once I became a mother, it seemed that owning my own business was no longer a possibility.”

In 2011, a friend of Lore’s from the pharmaceutical industry approached her about the Rodan + Fields® business opportunity, thinking it would be a great fit for her. The brand recognition gave Lore the assurance she needed to enroll as an Independent Consultant. “I love skincare, and I saw an opportunity to make extra money to help pay for my kids’ preschool.”

Lore's business has been her channel for redefining what business ownership means and a path to creating her own success.

Lore started using the REVERSE Regimen and noticed right away that it helped reduce the appearance of brown spots she had on her face. She also witnessed the results from the SOOTHE Regimen for sensitive and irritated skin and was equally impressed. “There is a Regimen for everyone, regardless of the skin concern.”

At first, Lore approached her business as a hobby on the side—it was something fun to do with a friend. She also enjoyed having a professional outlet to keep her mind active while she was home. But as she built a team and learned more about the Company, Lore realized this was her chance to be an entrepreneur. “It was exactly what I always wanted. And I wouldn’t need to sacrifice all my time like I would have with a traditional business.”

Lore’s strong work ethic shifted into high gear. She wanted to earn her own income and put her college education to use. She refocused her priorities and began listening to more training calls, determined to turn her business into something bigger. She began devoting full-time hours to her business, yet she never felt that it took away from her other responsibilities or priorities. “It didn’t feel like I was working because my business traveled with me everywhere. I could share it while talking with the other mothers at the playground. I could still do everything I had been doing before.”

After 14 months of growing her business, Lore achieved Level V. What she thought was going to be a little extra income turned into a transformational experience for her family. “There was a part of me that knew it would change our lives, but it wasn’t until I tapped into more training and saw the Field Leaders talk that I grasped the bigger picture. I knew then that I was meant to do this.”

Several of Lore’s friends and family members have joined her business, and Lore loves witnessing the amazing changes taking place in their lives as well. Currently, she is working with her team to help them achieve their own goals. “You can make this business whatever you need it to be for your situation. It’s a vehicle for whatever you’re looking for in life.”

For Lore, her business has been a channel for her to redefine what business ownership means. “It isn’t the huge sacrifice I always imagined it would need to be; it’s actually providing more for my family and giving me more time with them.”

Lore’s business also gives her new opportunities to dream and to give back. She and her husband are in the process of building a new home for their family, and she’s rededicated herself to giving back to local community efforts and outreach programs. This past Thanksgiving, Lore and her team sponsored several local families and provided them with dinner. “The ability to earn an additional income has enabled me to give when I find the niches in our community that speak to my passions.”

Lore’s experiences have taught her that individuality is part of what makes someone successful. “This business encourages everyone to be the best version of themselves and to share that with enthusiasm. When your best self shines through, it results in success.” Lore is proud to be able to set an example for her kids and to show them that being a parent doesn’t mean giving up on one’s dreams.

Lore is grateful that she found an outlet that lets her pursue her entrepreneurial dreams while continuing to be the mom and wife she always wanted to be as well.

Achieving her own dream and redefining what it means to be a successful business owner has convinced Lore that it’s never too late to start over. “I thought working from home and creating my own schedule was an unrealistic goal, but it wasn’t! I’m so happy I didn’t give up. Success comes down to how much you want it and how much enthusiasm you have to achieve it.”
