Lynne Spears – Finding Fulfillment While Always Focusing on Family First

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Thursday, April 21st, 2016

As the tour bus cruised along the highway and headed back home to Louisiana, Lynne Spears reminisced about all the places she’d visited and the many people she’d met over the past seven months. Not long before she’d hit the road with her daughter and grandchildren, Lynne had started her own business. Determined to make family her priority, she’d been searching for a way to earn an income around her busy schedule. When she learned of an opportunity that offered that kind of flexibility, she jumped at the chance to build a business that she could work from virtually anywhere. She was impressed by the earning potential, but she also found that the experience enriched her life in several ways she hadn’t anticipated.

Ready to try something new

For 15 years, Lynne ran her own preschool and daycare center and, when her children were young, she was able to bring them to classes with her. “At the time, it was a perfect fit for me because it allowed me to be there for my kids, but as they got older, I didn’t have as much time to devote to running the entire curriculum.” In 1996, Lynne decided to take a teaching position at a local school, which required fewer hours. She taught there for seven years, but as her children’s careers began to require more attention, Lynne decided to retire from teaching. “I needed a flexible schedule that would work around their commitments, which often required us to travel. It didn’t make sense for me to be tied down to a job.”

For the next 10 years, Lynne devoted her time to helping her children achieve their dreams. “I was grateful that I could be there for them during that time, but as they got older and were able to take care of themselves, I wanted something for myself again. However, I needed it to be flexible—I wasn’t looking to trade time for money.” Shortly after that, Lynne’s best friend invited her to attend a Rodan + Fields® business event. “When I heard it was the Doctors, my interest was piqued. I absolutely love their Multi-Med® Therapy approach to skincare, and I was curious to try their anti-aging regimen. The clinically proven products combined with the Doctors’ reputation made me confident that I could proudly stand behind this Company.”

Jumping in

Lynne tried the REDEFINE Regimen and was blown away by her results after just two uses. So, in April of 2011, she enrolled as an Independent Consultant. “I saw the potential to earn an income in part-time hours, and I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity. This Company has big goals, and they’ve achieved so much already. It’s unbelievable how they constantly meet or surpass their growth projections, and it’s so exciting to be a part of something that is growing so quickly.”

Lynne is driven by the opportunity to control how much she earns. “I loved teaching, but it’s very time-consuming, and you can only make so much as an educator. My business has provided me with a substantial income and allows me to work as much or as little as I want—who gets to dictate their income every month like that? It’s also helping me create complete financial independence and the ability to do that on my own terms is perfect for the lifestyle I want to live.”

Discovering the true potential

In 2013, Lynne achieved Level V and earned a free trip to Napa Valley, working 10 to 15 hours a week. The following year, she achieved Premier Level V and earned her Lexus through the Road to RFX Car Program. “It’s amazing how well you can potentially do with this business, simply fitting it around your life and, because it’s completely virtual, you can work it from your phone, no matter where you go.” Four months into her business, Lynne’s eldest daughter, Britney, asked Lynne to go on a seven-month music tour with her. “It was at that point that I realized how incredible it was to have a business that was completely mobile—I was able to spend time with my grandchildren and help tutor them. Being on the road didn’t hinder my business at all; in fact, when we returned, my business had grown.”

Lynne loves that her business thrives when she’s social. “This experience continues to enrich my life in so many ways. I enjoy meeting new people, and R+F is providing me with a network of friends all over the country—and I can’t wait for us to continue to expand globally, so when we launch in countries I’ve never visited, I can further expand my network while traveling. It’s awesome that the more people I talk to, the more my business grows. And it’s great to work with like-minded people who you care about. My teammates are not just my business partners; they are my friends.” Lynne finds this team atmosphere extremely rewarding. “The collaboration within the R+F community is so inspiring, and I think that’s the key to success because we all do better when we’re working together.”

Enjoying the benefits

The flexibility that Lynne’s business provides gives her the freedom to focus fully on what’s important to her. “I want to make family and taking care of myself my main priorities, and this enables me to do that.” Lynne enjoys easing into her days, and the ability to create her own schedule makes that possible. The time freedom also gives her plenty of opportunities to visit with her grandchildren, one of her favorite things to do. And this past winter, she was able to take a last minute trip to New York with some friends. “It was so nice to pick up and go without asking to take time off. I appreciate the ability to be spontaneous and do exactly what I want—and it’s all because of my business.”

Having a professional outlet has also given Lynne a confidence boost. “It’d been a long time since I had my own career to focus on, and I’d been wanting to pursue something of my own. The opportunity to lead and work with others again has given me back that sense of accomplishment I had as a teacher. And I truly enjoy what I’m doing, which makes it even better.” Coaching others and helping them achieve their goals is one of Lynne’s favorite aspects of owning her own business. “It’s awesome to watch people build successful organizations that are empowering their families to have better futures.”

Continuing to grow

Since starting her business, Lynne is taking even better care of herself. Years ago, she was an avid tanner and spent a lot of time in the sun. After using the REVERSE Regimen combined with the REDEFINE Regimen, she noticed a significant change in the appearance of her skin. Her brown spots and freckles disappeared, and the tone and texture of her skin evened out and felt much softer. “I didn’t realize how much tanning had aged and dulled my skin. Now that I’m taking proper care of it, I look better than I did five years ago—I don’t even wear any foundation or concealer anymore! It goes to show that when you feel good about yourself on the outside, it reflects how you feel inside, and that encourages a healthier and happier lifestyle all around.”

Lynne’s business gives her the freedom to put her family and her health first while still pursuing a career that she finds fulfilling. “So many people wind up stuck in the same job for years, wondering if that’s all there is for them. For those who are looking for more, I hope they realize that there are ways to change your life. We all face obstacles, and no situation is ever completely perfect, but there are things you can do that will bring you closer to your dreams. And the opportunity to connect with an innovative Company that is gaining more momentum every day could be the thing that totally changes your world.”

  1. Congratulations, Lynne!! I loved reading about your R+F journey, and your skin is gorgeous! Flexibility, time, and financial freedom are things that are elusive in a normal 9-5, M-F job, but you are living proof that with R+F, you CAN have all 3 AND have a rewarding, successful career! Being available for my boys (especially as they are becoming teenagers!!) is very important to me, and as an OR RN, field trips with my 12 year old (like the one we went on yesterday!) would not necessarily be possible (I’ve missed my fair share of field trips and other events through the years), but as an R+F Independent Consultant, I can make it to those fun, special school functions and still enjoy the rewards (both emotionally and financially) of a “job” I truly LOVE, and that goes hand-in-hand with my RN training of helping others. I believe God put me on this Earth to be a nurse and with my R+F biz, I can do both. I’m blessed to help in the OR PRN and continue helping others by sharing how R+F products changed my 14 year old’s life by treating the skin on his hands and arms that he suffered with for over a year before a coworker/CRNA mentioned the SOOTHE Regimen to me.
Lynne, you are an amazing, independent woman, Mom, grandmother, and entrepreneur! I’m sure that while touring the country with Britney, you came across LOTS of different skincare products. You could have chosen anything else on the market, and it speaks VOLUMES to me that you chose Rodan + Fields to keep your youthful appearance, making you look more like Britney’s sister than her mother! You are an inspiration!!

  2. I love Lynne’s inspiring story! These are great products and what a great business opportunity! So thrilled to be able to help others connect with the products and the opportunity!

  5. You are the real deal Lynne and I’m so proud of you! My daughter and I loved meeting you in Nashville 4 years ago. Keep changing skin and lives!
