Stephanie Leduc — Pushing Past Fear

When Stephanie Leduc first realized she wanted to create a new plan for her future, she was living in the United States temporarily while her soon-to-be husband finished his residency program. “I loved my career as a dental hygienist and I was excited to go back to it when I moved back to Canada. But I knew that wasn’t what I wanted to do for the long term. We wanted more flexibility in life, and I was always looking for an opportunity that would allow me to set my own schedule.”

“I didn’t know what that was going to look like until I heard about Rodan + Fields, and this opportunity checked all the boxes. I was excited that I had the opportunity to partner with these incredibly successful dermatologists in their new legacy brand. I would get to build my own business that I could work from anywhere, around my time, around my life. I instantly knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss.”

Initial excitement

Stephanie discovered her chance to become an entrepreneur back in June 2015, while out to dinner with friends. “One of the girls started raving about her new skincare products, and I had never heard of Rodan + Fields before. She told me that the Company just launched in Canada. That excited me, and I was initially intrigued by the products, but when she mentioned that her Independent Consultant walked away from dentistry to pursue this business, that was what really piqued my interest. I was so curious, I set up a conversation with Mallory Garschnick that same evening.”

After learning more, Stephanie was excited about becoming a business owner alongside her full-time job. “I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me and would give me something of my own. At the same time, there were other things I was really scared about. I’m definitely an introvert by nature. I shy away from anything that has to do with putting myself out there and I’m not very social media savvy. As much as I was excited, I didn’t know if I could be successful as a business owner. But what did I really have to lose? The very next day I put my fears aside and signed up as an Independent Consultant.”

Working toward success

Stephanie and her husband also moved to their new home at that time; she felt a bit nervous about starting her business in the midst of transition. “The fact that I was building a virtual business helped me get past that fear. I had my network at my fingertips and knew I could figure out how to do this from anywhere. I started again at my full-time job and I worked my business in the mornings and evenings. As I fit R+F around my busy schedule and tried to establish my life in a new province, I started to see some success. Slowly but surely my business started to grow.”

As Stephanie devoted 15 hours per week to her Rodan + Fields business, she started working toward her initial goals. “Eventually, once we started having children, I wanted to be able to stay at home with them and still contribute to our household while maintaining a professional outlet. That was my ‘why’ pretty much from the start. After sixteen months with R+F, I was able to step away from my job. When my son came along in 2017, it really hit me how fortunate I am that I have this great business and this amazing team. My hard work has allowed me to be with my son Thomas every day and live the life that I had dreamed of. Now I truly get the best of both worlds!”

Benefits along the way

For Stephanie, working with Team Moxie has been one of her favorite things about building a business. “I really love that we all bring something different to the team but at the same time, we’re very much alike. It’s really fun to have a team of like-minded people that all get along well and work together. And even though I haven’t yet gotten to meet many of our team members in person, I love how our community is so abundant, helpful, and willing to lend a hand. As a leader, I want to help as many team members reach their goals as I can.”

The R+F community as a whole has also helped Stephanie work through her fears and gain confidence as a leader. “I’ve met power partners and friends that I would never have without this business, and I’m so thankful for their friendship and support. Throughout the community, we’re all there to support each other and help encourage growth. Building confidence

Today, as a Premier V, Stephanie is shooting to achieve RFX and looks forward to gaining even more flexibility and freedom for her family along the way. The most exciting perk of being a business owner, however, has been internal. “I realized pretty quickly that R+F really pushed me out of my comfort zone — and it was the first thing in my life that I was willing to do that for. In the past, my fears stopped me in my tracks from doing the things I wanted to do. But I am so passionate about this business, I was able to see the benefit of pushing past my fears.”

“Now I’m talking to new people every day, and I would have never struck up a conversation with a stranger before. I’ve hosted events, and I’ve stood in front of a room of people talking about Rodan + Fields. You couldn’t have paid me to do that for anything else before I found this business. I’m really fired up about R+F because it’s giving me something more than just a paycheck — it’s helping me be less shy, less anxious, meet new friends, and gain self-confidence. That’s what I’ve loved most about this business from the start. I know now that if I set a goal, I can achieve it — no matter what. ”

To those who are considering taking part in the R+F journey, Stephanie offers her tried-and-true encouragement: “Why not invest in yourself and in your future? I’m very proud to be a part of this Company and I hope other people can see themselves as Consultants or Customers after reading my story. What do you have to lose?”

What one word do you most relate to? Happy

Have there been any especially significant people in your R+F journey? My mom was my first customer and first business partner and we chat about the business almost every day.

Where do you draw your inspiration from in life? My R+F paddle board for the Built to Last program! It’s a constant reminder that my team and I worked really hard to achieve a big goal.

Words to live by? Dare to live the life you’ve always dreamed of.
