Susie Twedt – Giving Back With R+F

Posted by Rodan + Fields on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

The following story recounts how this Independent Consultant is choosing to give back to her community and the world through her Rodan + Fields® business.

Susie Twedt worked happily in “corporate America” for 30 years. She loved her job, and enjoyed climbing the ladder and traveling around the world. But in 2011, her company was acquired and everything changed. “I took a leave of absence because I felt that I couldn’t stand behind the company anymore. I thought I might go back at some point, but after six months of being home, I realized that I loved spending time with my family more than I loved my 60- to 80-hour work weeks.”

An opportunity comes knocking

Soon enough, however, Susie started to look for other work opportunities. “I went to visit Susan, a dear friend of mine (now one of my loyal Preferred Customers) in Little Rock, Arkansas. She introduced me to two amazing women, Dana Kleine and Deena Bailey, who talked to me about Rodan + Fields®. They encouraged me to try the SOOTHE™ Regimen, and within five weeks my skin looked better than it had in years.”

From there, Susie decided to take the next step. “I was so impressed with the products that I became an Independent Consultant the very next month. Deena and Dana came out to Virginia to help me launch my business. I haven’t promoted a lot yet, but everyone has their own journey and I’m definitely not giving up. I still believe that this is going to be bigger than I can even imagine.”

Kicking it up a notch

After five years as a Level II, Susie has decided that she wants to ramp up her efforts. “I’ve now determined that I really want my business to take off. Deena and Dana have both taken me under their wings this year, and I’m also in two Corporate programs right now (Level Up and Start Up) that I really love.”

Programs like these are also helping Susie develop her ‘why.’ “I really do believe in the R+F products and think that they are transforming. I also truly believe in this business. I see this as an opportunity for me to create a second career for myself. I hope, that with a ton of hard work, I’ll achieve a lot of success with my R+F business one day. And I’m passionate about helping others see what it can do for them, too.”

Giving back in a big way

Susie wants to grow her business for the sake of personal growth and development, but she’s also feeding her passion for helping others. “With Rodan + Fields, I have the time freedom to give more than ever. I see amazing things happening for people every single day in this business, and I keep thinking ‘Why not me, and why not now?’ I can make a difference as well.”

First, she’s passionate about giving back to a local center for autism services. “I’ve always been an advocate for families like ours who have children on the autism spectrum. Early intervention is so important to me and made such a difference for our oldest daughter. We want to help support scholarships for other families to receive similar services, and that’s part of my next step with my R+F business. The bigger my business grows, the more I can give back to the organization that made such a difference for our family.”

Susie’s drive to give back doesn’t stop there. “I feel very strongly about helping the autistic community, but I also know that I’m meant to do more to empower youth through my business.” She was deeply inspired by the Change Maker trip to Bridgeport, Connecticut, and is determined to bring successes like this to her local community. “It was such an honor to be selected and to meet these students who are so empowered and confident. Their futures (and, in turn, our futures) are so bright. Partnering with buildOn back home, through events like the upcoming book drive, is our way of bringing all Rodan + Fields teams together to do something good for the Prescription for Change® (PFC) Foundation and for our community.”

A bright future ahead

Susie has faith that through her business she will make a big impact on the world around her. “I look around me now and feel so blessed to have this opportunity in my life. I absolutely loved what I did in the corporate world, but I had no control over my future. Today I know that any activity I do for my business is going to make a difference, and that’s why I’m here.”

Tell Me More…

Which charity/project are you most excited about giving back to? I can’t just say one! I’m passionate about working with the Prescription for Change Foundation and buildOn, as well as the Autism Learning Center in McLean, VA.

Favorite book? The Harry Potter series.

What is your best R+F team memory? I’ll say that my very first Convention in Dallas, Texas in February 2013 was true to its theme – “Go Big.”

What’s your biggest quirk? We call it being “the fairy” – chores that aren’t really seen but just “magically” get done.

What is your favorite R+F product? I have two – SOOTHE because it made a huge difference in my skin’s appearance and Lash Boost because I never thought I’d be excited about my eyelashes!
